New Mandalas

Cosmic Connection
I am so pleased to tell you that I have finally posted some of my hand drawn mandalas. These mandalas were done in watercolor and ink. I did a little post work in Photoshop, but nothing was done to the core image just adding a background for a more cohesive piece. Please enjoy them. I would love to hear some comments.
Look on the Mandala page of the site for the new postings.

Fiery Hiss

Artist Rachel Bemis
My cat Hissy passed away today and I did this Mandala while I was thinking of her. She was 15 years old and lived a long and full life. She is and will be missed, but I know that she is in the spirit realm which brings me comfort. She had a fiery personality so the yellow in the image fits her well. She was and always will be an important member of our family. We love you.

We love and miss you. Make sure you chase lots of mice. :)

What is a Mandala to me?

Artist: Rachel Bemis
To me a mandala is a form of expression. It is an art form and a spiritual activity. It has a history in many cultures, but most notably in the eastern cultures of India and Tibet, specifically, Hinduism and Buddhism.

I love creating these pieces of artwork. It brings me into the now at the same time they help me to heal and express myself in a creative fashion. I love everything about them. I love the geometry and the symbolism that are in every piece. They truly have meaning to me and to many others who find themselves fascinated by this art form. The mandalas I create are a direct result of my ongoing spiritual journey.

So, as a result of this I will posting my mandalas along with the story behind them as a kind of journal of self-discovery.
